Mario Lopez clapped back at social media users after they accused him of being a supporter of PresidentDonald Trump, but his former Extra cohost, Tanika Ray, chimed in and claimed the allegations were true.
The television host, 52, responded when he was called out in a video on Instagram dedicated to “exposing Latino MAGA artists” after he shared a photo of himself and UFC CEO Dana White from the Freedom 250 fight at the White House last month.
“You need to get your facts straight,” Lopez wrote in a since-deleted Instagram comment on the video, per a report from Buzzfeed published on June 26.
“I’ve interviewed Trump many times when he was on The Apprentice. And I didn’t attend the White House event,” the Saved by the Bell alum continued. “I was in DC shooting a PrimeTime special at the time for CBS celebrating a civics competition for kids.”
Lopez also explained why he was photographed with White, 56.
“Dana White happens to be a friend of mine, so we got together while in town,” he wrote. “Like I said, I’m not a political person. Too divisive. I could care less about politics. I care about my family, my community, my culture, and my faith.”
He concluded his message by writing, “God bless you and have a nice day, but please don’t spread misinformation.”
However, Lopez’s former Extra cohost, Ray, claimed he was a supporter of Trump, 80.
“Well I was his cohost and I can confirm this is true!!” Ray wrote in the comments of Buzzfeed‘s Instagram post on July 1. “It’s unfortunate but glad the truth is out maybe it will encourage him to think about it. But then again, He’s a capitalist first. Anyway. Happy Juneteenth!!”

She also added in a follow-up comment that Lopez “knows” that she doesn’t “agree and he doesn’t care.”
“People are in control of their choices. He is Mexican and maga and though it’s really confusing to me, it’s his life,” Ray continued. “He is happy with his choice. I pray people wake up bc this isn’t it.”
“In town working in DC and stopped by to visit my guy Dana White,” the Access Hollywood host captioned the picture of himself and White that he shared on June 11. “Apparently he’s got a little event planned on the White House lawn this Sunday…”
The day prior, a video on TikTok showed Lopez being asked why he wasn’t attending the White House fight and his opinion about Trump.
“I’m not, I’m not…. I don’t think anything,” Lopez replied as he continued walking.
When the reporter continued to ask about politics, the former Pacific Blue star made his position clear.
“I don’t talk politics,” he said. “It’s not my thing.”
