Has Timothée Chalamet sabotaged his chances of taking home an Academy Award?
Girlfriend Kylie Jenner can’t help but worry that he has, a source tells Globe, after the Marty Supreme star, 30, landed in hot water for claiming that “no one cares” about ballet or opera anymore during the recent Variety & CNN Town Hall.
“Kylie is as shocked as everyone by his comments,” says the source. “She’s all for him being confident but this was just unnecessary. He was doing so well and [was] by all accounts a real frontrunner to get the Oscar.”
But as of Friday, March 6, Michael B. Jordan now has a greater chance than Chalamet of being crowned Best Actor, per Gold Derby expert predictions.
“The silly part is she knows he doesn’t actually think that. He’s actually someone that appreciates art on a deep level,” explains the source. “He’s just being provocative and she wants him to stop.”

Jenner, 28, isn’t afraid to be blunt, the source reveals, and has told Chalamet “to dial things back a bit and show more humility, for her sake as well as his.”
As Globepreviously reported, the reality TV star very much wants a shot at an acting career — and accompanying the two-time Oscar nominee to the awards show on Sunday, March 15, means being in the same room as a lot of the people that could make it happen.
“She already feels a ton of anxiety attending these Hollywood events,” the source says of Jenner. “She doesn’t want to have to worry about everyone judging them extra hard because he’s talking all this trash.”
