Erik Menéndez and his wife Tammi have reached 27 years of marriage.
On Friday, June 12, Tammi made a celebratory post on X to mark the occasion.
“Happy 27th Anniversary to my favorite person! 27 years later, you still make me laugh and make life more fun every day,” Tammi gushed. “Here’s to exciting times ahead—because the best is yet to come! #erikmenendez#happyanniversary.”
Tammi connected with Erik, 55, after she wrote him a letter while he was already behind bars. Erik and his older brother, Lyle Menéndez, have been in prison for over 36 years for the 1989 murders of their parents, Jose and Kitty.
“I saw Tammi’s letter and I felt something. I received thousands of letters, but I set this one aside. I got a feeling,” Erik told People in 2005. “And I wrote her back. Tammi and I continued to correspond. I enjoyed writing to her. It was a slow friendship. It was special to me because it was not associated with the trial and the media. Tammi was someone not in the craziness.”

Erik and Lyle, 58 — who allege they acted in self-defense and suffered severe abuse at the hands of their parents — were convicted of their parents’ murder in 1996 and initially sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Then, in May 2025, they were resentenced to 50 years to life, making them eligible for parole.
“Absolutely infuriated by the so-called Justice System in the Menendez case!” she penned. “They’ve re-traumatized them at every turn, exploiting them like sacrificial lambs just because they can. No fair hearing—just a disgusting display of political power! #JusticeForMenendez.”
