Sutton Foster Upset Over Hugh Jackman’s U-Turn on Ex Deborra-Lee Furness: ‘On a Pedestal Again’

Last June, Deborra-Lee Furness and Hugh Jackman finalized their bitter divorce — but a source says the Wolverine star now has a fresh perspective on his ex-wife.

“He keeps talking about what a great wife she was and the incredible job she did raising their kids,” reveals the source. “Hugh’s got her up on a pedestal again.”

According to the source, the actor’s 180 came about after months of “soul searching.”

“He’s admitting that he could have handled things better,” dishes the source. “Looking back, he can understand why Deb was so angry about the way everything unfolded and why she felt blindsided.”

Following their 2023 separation, rumors emerged that Jackman, 57, stepped out on his 27-year marriage to the Aussie actress, 70, with The Music Man costar Sutton Foster.

Public confirmation of the former castmates’ romance emerged in January 2025.

Furness — who shares grown children Oscar, 26, and Ava, 20, with the Missing Link alum — later released a statement to the Daily Mail about “the traumatic journey of betrayal,” noting how “it’s a profound wound that cuts deep.”

“The more ownership Hugh takes for all the pain Deb went through, the easier it is to see things from her side,” adds Globe‘s source. “He’s gone from being quite combative to praising her, which really is not going down well with Sutton.”

As Globe previously reported, the Younger beauty, 51, is still in the process of ending her own marriage to Ted Griffin — even as she and Jackman plot their dream wedding.

“Having to listen to Hugh sing Deb’s praises is demoralizing for Sutton,” the source alleges. “She’s got to be wondering why Hugh is suddenly so focused on his past when they’re supposed to be concentrating on their future.”
