President Trump Criticizes CNN Reporter for ‘Not Smiling’ as She Asks About Epstein Victims
President Donald Trump wants to turn those frowns upside down.
The commander-in-chief, 79, slammed CNN’s Kaitlan Collins when she failed to crack a smile when he unveiled a new “America is back” baseball cap in the Oval Office on Tuesday, February 3, per People.
“Look, CNN is thrilled,” Trump said, before adding, “She never smiles. Someday I’ll see her smile.”
Collins, 33, then asked the president about the release of the Justice Department’s release of files related to late convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
“What would you say to the survivors who feel they still haven’t gotten justice?” Collins, 33, asks, in a video shared by CNN.
“You are the worst reporter,” Trump interrupted. “No wonder CNN has no ratings because of people like you. You know she’s a young woman. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you smile. I’ve known you for 10 years, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a smile on your face.”
“Well I’m asking you about survivors of Jeffrey Epstein, Mr. President,” Collins replied.
“You know why you’re not smiling? Because you know you’re not telling the truth,” Trump continued. “You’re a very dishonest organization and they should be ashamed of you.”
“These are survivors of a sexual abuser,” Collins responded, as the president turned to other reporters.
“Kaitlan Collins is an exceptional journalist, reporting every day from the White House and the field with real depth and tenacity,” a CNN spokesperson told People. “She skillfully brings that reporting to the anchor chair and CNN platforms every day, which audiences around the world know they can trust.”
Trump also attacked Collins in a Truth Social post in December. “Caitlin Collin’s [sic] of Fake News CNN, always Stupid and Nasty, asked me why the new Ballroom was costing more money than originally thought one year ago,” he wrote.
Collins reposted his rant on her Instagram Stories with a short response, per People: “Technically my question was about Venezuela.”
