As summer approaches, New Yorkers planning escapes from the city can now explore craft spirits producers throughout the state with the help of a new app.

The New York State Distillers Guild has launched the new NY Distillery Trails App to help introduce more people to the state’s thriving craft distilling industry following the implementation of landmark legislation allowing direct-to-consumer (DTC) shipping of spirits across the state.

The announcement comes as the New York State Distillers Guild celebrates the new law, which grants distillers the same DTC shipping privileges that wineries in the state have enjoyed since 2005. The change is expected to boost local distilleries, which previously faced challenges in getting their products directly into consumers homes.

“With the signing of this legislation, New York continues its tradition of supporting homegrown entrepreneurship,” said Brian Facquet, Founder and Head Distiller of Do Good Spirits and President of the New York State Distillers Guild. “Our new NY Distillery Trails App is the perfect companion to this historic change, giving consumers a simple way to discover, visit, and now directly purchase craft spirits from the incredible array of distilleries in every corner of the state.”

The newly released app, developed in partnership with Visit Widget, serves as a user-friendly guide to more than 150 distilleries statewide, from Brooklyn to the Hudson Valley and beyond. It offers curated themed trails, easy browsing by spirit type, itinerary planning features, and social sharing tools. Most notably, the app simplifies the purchasing process by integrating DTC options, allowing users to buy directly from distilleries on-site or from home.

“From seasoned enthusiasts to first-time explorers, our NY Distillery Trails App offers a tailor-made experience for discovering world-class spirits,” said Teresa Casey, Executive Director of the New York State Distillers Guild. “Combined with the new DTC legislation, its never been easier to support local distillers, visit and taste the best of New York, and share these exceptional products with others.”

The NY Distillery Trails App may help emulate the success of other famous regional spirits trails, like Kentuckys Bourbon Trail, and further solidify New York’s position as a craft spirits destination

The NY Distillery Trails App is now available for download on both Google Play and iOS.
