A source tells Globe that The View co-hosts have been asked to “keep the ship steady and the franchise afloat” in the wake of the FCC’s probe into the Daytime Emmy-winning talk show.
“[They are] under a different kind of pressure than just the usual stuff about budgets, salaries and choices of guests,” admits the source. “In the current climate, they have to be careful about what they say and how they say it, while still trying to satisfy their audience and make their clips go viral.”
According to CNN, the Federal Communications Commission opened an inquiry earlier this year to determine whether The View had violated the “equal time” rule, which, per the news outlet, “requires stations to give equal airtime to all legally qualified candidates for public office.”
“The good news is that Whoopi and Joy still love doing the show and they still manage to turn up every day with a lot of energy and big smiles on their faces,” says the source, adding that “the bosses at Disney have kept supporting the broadcast during this turbulent time when it might have been easier just to cut the whole thing loose.”

ABC is standing firm amid the probe.
Per CNN, the network sent an “extraordinary legal letter” to the FCC, in which Supreme Court litigator Paul Clement states that The View was ruled a “bona fide news interview program” in 2002, making it exempt from the rule.
Goldberg, 70, and Behar, 83, are too.
“Neither of them is backing down from airing their fiery opinions or saying what’s really on their minds,” says the source, “and that’s why they can at least count on job security amid all this scrutiny from the government.”
