Tiger Woods pleaded not guilty after his DUI arrest following a rollover car accident on March 27 — when he was reportedly found with opioids on him — but people are wondering what comes next.

“These charges matter,” a source told journalist Rob Shuter for a Thursday, April 9, post on his Naughty But Nice Substack. “And they’re not disappearing overnight.”

“There’s already chatter about what happens next,” the insider said, adding that leads “straight to” Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has the ability to pardon state charges.

Helping the 15-time major champion — who is dating Donald Trump Jr.’s ex-wife Vanessa Trump — is his close connection to President Donald Trump.

As Globe previously reported, Woods, 50, was seen on bodycam footage allegedly talking with the 79-year-old president on the phone immediately following the car accident.

“He’s very close to Donald Trump,” Shuter’s source pointed out. “Closer than people realize.”

“Tiger reached out right after the crash,” the source noted. “That’s who he turned to. No one is officially asking for a pardon. But in these circles, influence doesn’t always look obvious.”

“This could stay in the courtroom,” the source said. “Or it could move into the political arena.”

While it’s unclear if DeSantis, 47, would stick his neck out for Woods — who pleaded not guilty to charges of driving under the influence with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test — Shuter’s source noted: “DeSantis is his own power player. Any move like that would come with serious scrutiny.”

Globe previously confirmed that Woods was granted approval by a judge to travel outside the country to seek treatment following his arrest.

After Woods’ latest car crash, he released a statement on March 31 via X, writing, “I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health.”

“This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery,” the statement continued, adding that he hopes to “return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place.”
