Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has had no contact with his first cousin Caroline Kennedy lately.
On Saturday, January 31, the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, 72, attended the Starry Starry Night Gala in Palm Desert, California, with his wife, Cheryl Hines. While at the event, the environmental lawyer was asked by Peoplewhether he had spoken to Caroline, 68 — who has publicly criticized RFK Jr. — since the passing of her and husband Edwin Schlossberg‘s daughter Tatiana Schlossberg.
“Not recently,” the politician responded, per the outlet. “Everybody’s praying for them.”

As Globe previously reported, RFK Jr. did not join his family, including his sister Kerry Kennedy, at Tatiana’s funeral. The service took place on Monday, January 5, at The Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola in Manhattan, and RFK Jr. opted to roll out newly reduced vaccine requirements for children that same day.
In November, Tatiana — who died on December 30 at the age of 35 — wrote a piece for The New Yorker, revealing she had been diagnosed with a terminal form of acute myeloid leukemia after giving birth to her second child.

Also in the essay, Tatiana slammed RFK Jr., calling him “an embarrassment to me and the rest of my immediate family.”
“In August, 2024, he suspended his campaign and endorsed Donald Trump, who said that he was going to ‘let Bobby go wild’ on health,” Tataina wrote about RFK Jr. “My mother wrote a letter to the Senate, to try and stop his confirmation; my brother had been speaking out against his lies for months.”
“I watched from my hospital bed as Bobby, in the face of logic and common sense, was confirmed for the position, despite never having worked in medicine, public health, or the government,” she further penned.
