Patriots QB Drake Maye’s Body Language Towards Wife After AFC Championship Win Sparks Viral Debate

The New England Patriots are going to the Super Bowl, and the NFL caught quarterback Drake Maye’s reaction on camera.

After the Patriots defeated the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game with a score of 10-7 at Empower Field at Mile High in Colorado, the 23-year-old was filmed celebrating the moment with wife Ann Michael Maye in an Instagram Reel shared Sunday, January 25.

In the clip, shared by the NFL, the athlete is seen taking in the big moment on the football field as his wife, 22, appeared to congratulate him and shower him in hugs. However, the athlete’s response of patting her on the back set the post’s comments section ablaze.

“His body language is throwing me off. This was hard to watch. She was so excited for him,” one person commented, garnering more than 2,500 likes and over 100 replies.

While some people agreed with the social media user, others came to Maye’s defense, pointing out that it was cold and snowing — and that he could simply be overstimulated.

“He just won the afc championship and it’s extremely cold. He was like this through the interviews after the game as well,” one person wrote, while another added: “I’m sure that he loves her. he’s just locked in… he knows that he has one more game to win.”

Still, others thought his reaction was a bit off-putting. “He looks like he couldn’t care less that she’s there – and this is coming from a die hard patriots fan. It hardly looks like a couple celebrating going to the Super Bowl. Awkward,” one person commented.

“He seems inconvenienced,” someone said, while one wondered: “How do you pat ur wife on the back! it smells fishy!”

One person pointed out that the couple, who announced their engagement one year ago in January and got married months later in June, has been together for years.

“She’s been with him since 7th grade, she knows his game day persona. locked in,” the person wrote. “You don’t last that long without being supportive of each other at different moments. it’s like he’s overwhelmed they did it, and she’s reminding him.”
