Fans Rally Behind George Strait as Super Bowl Petition to Replace Bad Bunny Surges Past 50K Signatures

A petition to oust Bad Bunny as the Super Bowl halftime performer and replace him with country singer George Strait has reached over 50,000 signatures and continues to grow.

“The Super Bowl halftime show is one of the most watched music performances worldwide,” the petition on Change.org begins, arguing that “it’s pivotal to remember the roots that have made American music what it is today.”

Calling Strait, 73, “the King of Country” and “a staple in American musical history,” the post adds, “His performances are known for their authenticity and raw emotion.” It concludes, “The Super Bowl halftime show should unite our country… Bad Bunny represents none of these values; his drag performances and style are the opposite of what families expect on football’s biggest stage.”

The National Enquirer previously reported on October 17 that a petition was launched and it had just over 35,000 signatures, but since then, the numbers have continued to grow. Several people left comments in support of a performance by Strait with one person going as far to say that previous halftime shows had been satanic.

“Time for a SB halftime show change. The typical satanic groups all dressed in Red must go,” the comment read. “Go to the Hank Willams Jr. Days and Lets Rock Some Country with one of the greatest ever!”

Another person added that Bad Bunny, 31, “hates America, George Strait loves America! There’s an obvious choice here. Come on NFL, get your act together! May God have mercy on us.”

The NFL has not responded to the petition.
