Melania Trump Suggests Son Barron, 20, Is ‘Happy’ They Don’t See Each Other Often

Melania Trump gave some insight into her relationship with son Barron, hinting that he might be okay with the fact they don’t all get together as a family as much as they used to.

The first lady, 56, appeared as a guest on Fox Business’s The Big Money Show on Wednesday, September 23 and was asked by cohost Taylor Riggs about juggling her personal and professional life. During the chat, she appeared to suggest her 20-year-old son is okay with having a little distance between them.

“You are so busy and you’re such an inspiration to young moms out there who are trying to do it all — run businesses, charities, organize state dinners, run a family. Do you still try to get your family together for Sunday night dinners or try to see Barron when you can?” Riggs wondered.

Riggs then asked, “What are pieces of advice for moms who feel like they’re so stretched thin, trying to do it all, but at the end of the day just want maybe a dinner at night with their family?”

First, Melania praised the art of making a schedule, especially “because everybody’s so busy.” Her husband President Donald Trump, of course, is preoccupied with his presidential duties, while Barron is currently attending New York University.

“My husband is working, sometimes he’s in the Oval Office until 9:30 at night, so do you wait that you will have dinner? You don’t,” the former model said. “Because he’s busy, I’m busy too. But we try to find time.”

Melania continued, “It’s less and less, the family time is suffering because of it. But that’s okay. We are here to work, to do a good job, and that’s what matters.”

Of her son, she added, “Barron is already a young man, so sometimes he’s maybe even happy that I just want to do my stuff. And that’s okay.”

Her comments come after a report from the New York Post published on August 28, described Barron as “pretty reclusive” as ongoing threats against his family have largely kept him out of the public eye.

“He doesn’t go out,” another source told the publication.

The president’s youngest son reportedly became even more cautious following the September 2025 assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, whom the Post said Barron had grown close to.

“This is what happens when you go out there,” he reportedly told his father when he learned of Kirk’s death.

The comment was first reported by Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan in their book, Regime Change, according to the outlet.
