An off-duty New York police officer was arrested after he allegedly pulled a gun on a woman who he was going to pay to pleasure him.
Joel Perez Leonardo, 25, was charged with menacing, driving while intoxicated, patronizing a person for prostitution and harassment, prosecutors said, according to a Friday, November 6, report in the New York Post.
Leonardo — who reportedly joined the NYPD last year — was in the Hunts Point section of the Bronx around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4, when he allegedly offered a woman $60 to service him orally, per News 12.

When the woman refused, he allegedly pointed a gun at her and told her to get out of the car, according to documents obtained by the Post.
Prosecutors said, per the publication, that Leonardo was behind the wheel of his 2019 Mazda CX-5, with the engine running and headlights on. He was reportedly asked to take a breathalyzer test, but he allegedly refused.
According to the complaint obtained by the Post, Leonardo’s eyes were bloodshot, and he said, “I was at the bar. I had a few drinks.”

His driver’s license and gun license were reportedly suspended, and the department said he was suspended without pay from the NYPD.
The Post reported that, during Leonardo’s arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court on Thursday, he was granted supervised release, and a full order of protection was issued.
Leonardo is next scheduled to appear in court on January 7. It is unclear if he has entered a plea.
