Hulk Hogan died unexpectedly in July 2025, and in the final interview before his death, he revealed he took a massive amount of fentanyl following his divorce from Linda Hogan.

Hulk had already undergone at least 10 major surgeries before he joined Total Nonstop Action Wrestling in 2009, and the ‘80s icon admitted in Netflix’s docuseries Hulk Hogan: Real American that his “body had just had enough.”

Eric Bischoff, who was previously an executive with the WWE and one of Hulk’s close friends, said that the wrestling star’s pain was debilitating.

“His back was in so much pain, I would literally have to go to his hotel and help him get out of bed to get into the shower to get ready to go to the shoot,” Bischoff explained.

Hulk confessed that he was taking “80-milligram fentanyls” to help with his pain.

“Two in the morning, stuffing them under my gums here,” Hulk continued. “I had two 300-milligram patches of fentanyl on my legs, and they gave me six 1,500-milligram fentanyl lollipops to eat.”

The WWE legend confessed that when he went to the pharmacy to pick up the medication, the pharmacist told him, “You should be dead. We have never seen a human being take this much fentanyl.”

The same year he joined TNA, he and Linda — with whom he shared daughter Brooke, 37, and son Nick, 35 — officially divorced which caused Hulk to spiral. At one point, he came close to committing suicide.

“I went home and I started drinking and started eating pills,” the former reality star explained. “I just went down this rabbit hole for a couple of days, and the next thing I know, I’m sitting in front of my bathroom with a gun in my mouth.”

Hulk and Linda never completely reconciled before his death, but just four days before he died, she posted a throwback photo of the two of them on Instagram captioned “The good old days.”

On July 24, 2025, news broke that he had died at age 71 from a heart attack.
