Denise Richards is “humiliated” by her estranged husband Aaron Phypers’ latest claims about her, a source tells Globe.

“Every day it seems Aaron and his pitbull lawyers find more mud to sling at her, and airing it all out in the press is making this even more of a horror story,” the source says of her ex, who has accused her of cheating and pill popping as part of their contentious divorce. Meanwhile, Richards, 54, has accused him of domestic abuse, which he’s denied.

On Thursday, September 11, Inside Edition aired a segment in which Phypers, 52, allowed cameras into the Calabasas, California rental home they once shared, showing rooms appearing to be trashed with junk, clothes and stained rugs — as well as 15 dogs. “This is how she left it,” he claimed. “I don’t know if it’s hoarding. It’s something.”

“The fact he’s now accusing her of being a hoarder and a slob who mistreats animals while she’s out of her head on pills is a terrible look,” says the source. “Aaron’s taking a sledgehammer to her reputation.”

The Wild Things star, who insisted in court documents obtained by People that she hasn’t lived there in two years, brought two moving trucks to remove her belongings from the house and also retrieved her dogs on September 13, per Page Six.

“Aaron’s touched a real nerve with the hoarding, as Denise does have an issue there and she’s always found it difficult to throw stuff out or keep her possessions neatly stored,” acknowledges the source. “But she swears this situation [at the house] is being taken totally out of control and that Aaron’s being a vindictive monster who’s trying to shake her down for a payday.”

Phypers filed for divorce after six years of marriage in July. A source previously told Globe that the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum has been burning through her $6 million savings fighting him in court.

“She says she doesn’t care how much she has to spend, she’s not just going to give in to Aaron’s demands,” the source revealed.

“But Aaron’s got a very strong case for spousal support, so odds are she’s going to have to pay him out in the end on top of all the legal fees.”
