On Wednesday, May 27, Springsteen, 76, and Rage Against the Machine guitarist, Tom Morello, announced the news to the crowd at Nationals Park in Washington DC as the “Born to Run” singer winds down his Land of Hope and Dreams American Tour.
“The Gestapo tactics of this president and this administration will not stand here,” Springsteen said, per The Associated Press.
“This American tragedy can only be stopped by the American people: you. There is no one coming to save us. We’ve got to do it ourselves,” he added. “So join us and let’s fight for the America that we love. Do you hear me, Washington?”

The outlet reports that the Power to the People festival will take place on October 3, roughly one month before the 2026 midterm elections, at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. It will feature two stages with confirmed performers like Foo Fighters, Dave Matthews, Brittany Howard, Joan Baez, Dropkick Murphys, Jack Black, Serj Tankian, Killer Mike, Taylor Momsen and the Linda Lindas — to name a few.
A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to VoteRiders and HeadCount.
The outlet reports that Springsteen closed out his show after the announcement with some choice words directed at Trump, 79.
“Our democracy, our constitution, our rule of law are being challenged right now as never before by a reckless, racist, incompetent, treasonous president and his ship of fools administration,” he said.
He then declared, “God bless Alex Pretti, God bless Renée Good, God bless you and God bless America,” he concluded, referencing the two people allegedly killed by federal immigration agents in Maryland.
