Vice PresidentJD Vance didn’t want to hear any naysayers when he took the stage for the Air Force Academy graduation this week.
“I’ve watched a few highlights of graduation speeches where this or that corporate leader will discuss artificial intelligence – AI – and be met with literal boos,” Vance, 41, said during his commencement speech for the 2026 graduates on Thursday, May 28.
“Now, you can’t boo me. I’m the vice president of the United States,” he added.
However, plenty of people adamantly disagreed with his remarks.
“Yeah we can, it’s called ‘freedom of speech,'” one person wrote via X.

Another added, “God rested on the day they passed out charisma for JD.”
“Vance is so insecure,” a third person chimed in. “I’m guessing when he was in high school, he probably received several toilet swirlies because he was such a dweeb.”
The former Ohio senator has had his fair share of run-ins with crowds who weren’t particularly happy to see him. In March 2025, Vance and his wife, Usha, attended a concert at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. When the couple took their seats, boos erupted from the crowd.
Earlier this year, he attended the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in February. During the opening ceremony in Milan, Italy, Vance was shown on the stadium’s big screen, but the reaction from the 65,000 person crowd was far from warm. Instead, he was met with jeers.
