Howard Stern has reportedly been cutting staff despite his December announcement that The Howard Stern Show was signed for three more years with SiriusXM.

According to a Thursday, August 6, report in The U.S. Sun, at least 50 employees — which equates to two-thirds of the shock jock’s entire staff — were let go over two waves of layoffs.

Insiders claimed to the publication that layoffs began on February 12, approximately two months after Stern, 72, announced on December 16 that the show was renewed.

“They let all these people go, and it was like, ‘Nothing to see here,’ since none of the people were on the air,” a source said.

Another insider claimed that “at least 40 people were let go” during that round.

The Sun‘s insider claimed that there was another shakeup on July 13, when at least 16 people were laid off, including on-air talent.

The publication reported, via their sources, that former employees were asked to sign an exit NDA. Several sources who previously spoke to The Sun claimed that many laid-off employees refused their initial severance offers.

Page Six reported on July 14 that Stern laid off around a dozen people that month because he’s planning to drop to one new show per week after Labor Day. The publication stated that the layoffs happened on July 13 over Zoom.

In December, the radio personality told listeners that they will be getting more of The Howard Stern Show.

“I am happy to announce that I have figured out a way to have it all,” he said at the time. “The announcement is that we’re going to be partnering with SiriusXM and [will] continue to entertain for the next three years.”

He added, “I’m excited about it because I do still love radio.”
