Rush Hour 4 is reportedly being revived for the big screen — at the personal request of President Donald Trump.
According to a Sunday, November 23 report from news outlet Semafor, “a person directly familiar with the conversations” stated that President Trump had “personally pressed” Larry Ellison — an investor in Paramount — to create a fourth installment of the action franchise.
The Rush Hour films follow the adventures of a Hong Kong inspector (played by martial arts pro Jackie Chan) and a Los Angeles cop (Chris Tucker).
Tucker and Chan have signed onto Rush Hour 4, according to Variety and the film’s IMDB page.
Variety reports that Brett Ratner, who directed the first three films in the Rush Hour franchise (with release dates ranging from 1998 to 2007), will return as director for the fourth sequel.

It’s back to the spotlight for Ratner, who in 2017, at the height of the MeToo movement, was accused of crimes ranging from sexual misconduct to harassment and rape, by multiple women. Ratner denied all the accusations and was not charged with any crimes. That year, amid the allegations, Warner Bros. severed ties with the director, while Ratner also made the decision to step away, according to the Associated Press.
Ratner is also directing the 2026 Amazon documentary Melania about First Lady Melania Trump. According to IMDB, Ratner’s last feature film involvement was Hercules in 2014 (starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson), which Ratner directed.
