An astonishing number of “glass” sugar panes were shattered in one of the many memorable set-pieces, but Chan will likely never be able to forget one scene — which was kept in the finished movie — in which he suffered second-degree burns, spine injuries and dislocation of his pelvis from sliding down a high, lights-festooned pole.

Chan was reportedly scared to do the stunt, so one of the stuntmen gave him a Buddhist prayer to keep in his pocket for luck.
