Trump, 79, is drawing sharp backlash after joking that a few service members named Donald were buried at Arlington National Cemetery, where he delivered a Memorial Day address on Monday, May 25.
After praising the families of deceased veterans who attended the ceremony, the president began listing names of military personnel buried at the site.
“Four hundred thousand souls rest on these grounds,” Trump said while delivering his speech, according to Fox News. He went on to name service members called “William,” “John,” and “James.” When his own name came up in the list, Trump paused and chuckled.
“Donalds,” he said. “Not too many.”

The moment quickly sparked criticism online, with many calling the remark out of place at a ceremony meant to honor those who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
The New York Post reported that Trump also referenced recent military losses during his speech. He said, “In two wars recently, we’ve lost a total of 13 service members.” He added, “In Operation Epic Fury, we lost 13 wonderful souls.”

However, much of the attention remained on his Arlington comment. One X user wrote, “He has absolutely zero empathy.”
Another user labeled Trump’s comments as “rude and crude,” adding, “How low can one man go?” A third wrote, “He’s a delusional old man.”
