North West, 12, Seemingly Removes Finger Piercing After Fierce Backlash, Health Warnings from Fans

North West may have quietly moved on from one of her most talked-about style choices.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s oldest child, 12, appears to have removed her controversial finger piercings following months of online backlash and health concerns raised by fans.

Photos shared to North’s newly launched Instagram account on Tuesday, December 30, show the pre-teen playing in the snow with friends and flaunting her manicure. While one of her middle fingers was adorned with a turquoise ring, the other appeared completely unpierced — a noticeable change from previous posts that had sparked intense debate online.

As usual, North’s look drew attention. She showed off bright blue hair that falls to her hips, continuing her reputation for bold beauty choices.

The apparent dermal piercing removal comes just over a month after North addressed criticism surrounding her finger piercings on TikTok, where commenters warned that the jewelry could lead to an infection.

“It’s okay,” North and Kim’s joint TikTok account responded at the time.

North first debuted the dermal piercings on her right middle finger in August. In November, it appeared she also had one on her left middle finger. Piercing and jewelry brand Lula Ave weighed in on the risks, warning those types of piercings “may not heal well due to the constant use of the hands and the risk of the jewelry getting snagged or bumped.”

The controversy eventually extended to Kardashian herself, with many TikTok users criticizing the reality star and entrepreneur as an “absentee parent.”
