Nolan Wells‘ mother is ready to see photos of his body taken during the search and rescue effort in person.

According to a report TMZ published on Thursday, July 23, sources familiar with the situation told the outlet that Christine Wells-Wonsley has taken the United Cajun Navy up on its offer to view photos of her 18-year-old son’s body lying face down on the Horn Island shoreline.

United Cajun Navy vice president Brian Trascher has photos of Nolan snapped from 400 feet in the air, showing the body and the police response, according to the outlet. Trascher was in a helicopter searching for Nolan on July 6 when he snapped the photos. He says he didn’t know Nolan’s body was in the photos at the time, per the report.

According to TMZ, sources said the United Cajun Navy reached out to inform Christine they would share the images with her if she wanted to see them, and she said she would prefer to see them in person rather than having the photos sent to her digitally. The organization is coordinating with Nolan’s mom and also agreed to share information with her about what they saw that day, as well as lay out their search efforts in greater detail.

The development comes as Nolan’s family continues searching for answers about his death, which followed a Fourth of July celebration on Horn Island, Mississippi.

As Globe previously reported, Nolan’s best friend, Warren Hudson, has continued to rehash the events that led up to Nolan’s disappearance.

“The last time I saw Nolan was 3 o’clock. And Nolan was cradling a girl in his arms, Katie,” Hudson said during an appearance on The Officer Tatum Show. “Nolan was sitting there and the last time I saw him, I looked at Nolan and Nolan was shaking his head, laughing, and I was like, ‘Dude, you crazy.’ I was just joking with him. That was the last time I laid eyes on him.”

Hudson has said the group was having problems with one of the boats they rode out to the island on, and that Nolan refused a ride back despite being asked “multiple times to get on the boat.”

Nolan’s body was discovered two days after he was reported missing, and his cause of death remains “undetermined” following an independent autopsy report.
