A Tennessee man went to extreme measures to reinforce his mailbox after he claims it was taken out eight times in under a year by drivers going down his curved road.
TikTok creator Travis Howard (@builtbytravis), posts mostly carpentry and contractor videos on his account. He has been sharing the saga of his mailbox struggles as well, reporting in a video posted on Wednesday, October 14, that he’s had eight different drivers hit his mailbox this year.
Feeling discouraged, he finally decided to take matters into his own hands by securing the box in four feet of concrete.
“Please don’t hit my mailbox again, because you’re gonna get messed up,” he said in a Part 2 video.

He then showed a time-lapse video of a truck pouring all the concrete into a deep hole where his mailbox now stands.
“There’s two and a half yards of concrete right here. The thing goes down like 4 feet, like 4,000 pounds,” he explained.
Howard noted that he finally decided to fill the hole with concrete because, with each new car wreck, the hole was getting bigger and bigger after the mailbox was, presumably, torn out of the ground.
In the first video he shared about his mailbox October 14, the craftsman showed the road he lives on, pointing out that it has several small hills that lead right to a curve that’s just ahead of his front lawn.

As he spoke, he showed several cars passing by on the busy street that “fly through that curve” at a high speed. He noted that he’s had cars hit the mailbox from both directions and was finally at his wits’ end.
In his first video, he showed images of all eight crashes that took out his mailbox in the past. However, his mailbox wasn’t the only place cars have crashed along that stretch of road. Howard also showed nearby trees and a telephone pole that have been hit by cars traveling along the curved road.
“I wanted to show you guys all these wrecks and what I did,” he explained.
