On the Monday, July 20 episode of her podcast, The Megyn Kelly Show, host Megyn Kelly took aim at the 62-year-old’s recent remarks at the Essence Festival, accusing the former first lady of turning compliments into insults.
“Michelle Obama has been everywhere, trying to build her brand and her very sad little podcast, and she showed up at the Essence Festival and wanted to talk about a number of things: How aggrieved she is, yes, you know that, and also how amazing she is,” Kelly, 55, said on the show. “So she’s aggrieved and amazing. Those two things always go hand in hand… She’s spectacular, she’s got an annoying family, pain-in-the-[expletive] daughters. She’s a great wife, but she has an [expletive] husband.”
Kelly didn’t stop there. “Oh my God, she is dripping in narcissism… dripping in it. Would you at least feign some humility? I’m embarrassed for you,” she continued. “You’re actually not that great. You’re fine, but you seem very scripted and artificial to me, if I’m honest.”

The host also pushed back on Michelle‘s complaints about media coverage of her fashion choices. “The reason they wrote about your fashion is because, yes, you’re a woman… They do it to every female politician, and it’s not to diminish them,” Kelly said. “So [expletive] off with this grievance nonsense. You’re not aggrieved. It’s not. It doesn’t make anybody a misogynist.”
Kelly also pointed to Michelle’s multiple Vogue cover appearances as proof of a double standard. “Why did she pose for Vogue FOUR times on its cover? Why did she just do a whole book about fashion?” she asked, adding that Michelle “wants to be known for her fashion that has to be on her terms.”

The host went on to bring 64-year-old former president Barack Obama into the conversation, saying, “This is what poor Barack has been dealing with for 20 to 30 years now. I mean, no wonder the guy is so gray, so prematurely.”
Kelly also argued that the lawyer received softer media treatment than other political spouses. “She was the Black woman. She’s the spouse of this rising black star of the Democrat Party, and there was hesitance to go after her because people are afraid,” Kelly said. “She did not get it hard… She didn’t get it anywhere near as hard asSarah Palin got it.”
