A judge handed a sweetheart sentence to a career criminal — who randomly opened fire on a Massachusetts highway just months after he was freed from jail for shooting at cops!
Gunman Tyler Brown, 36, allegedly fired 50 to 60 rounds from an assault-style rifle at terrified motorists on May 11, leaving two innocent bystanders with life-threatening injuries, according to The New York Post.
In the most alarming incident, Brown fired 13 rounds at Boston police officers in 2020, court records obtained by Boston 25 News showed. He pleaded guilty to armed assault with intent to murder and prosecutors recommended a 12-year prison sentence, followed by five years’ probation.
Instead, Judge Janet Sanders handed out a five- to six-year sentence with three years of probation — even though Brown was already on probation for a 2014 assault conviction!
Prosecutors blasted the sentence as “disappointing” and an insult to the officers who were nearly killed, according to The New York Post.
A cop caught in the attack said in a statement, via NBC 10, “I am a firm believer that when Mr. Tyler Brown gets out, he will hurt, or worse, kill someone.”

That prediction came true when Brown unleashed a barrage of bullets at unsuspecting drivers in Cambridge, wreaking havoc on the highway.
Driver Brandon Mansolf told WBZ-TV there was “blood everywhere,” with shell casings littering the road. Witness Joseph Minino-Rodriquez compared the crazed shooter’s hail of ammo to a “video game,” while witness Todd Czubek told CBS Brown was “shooting randomly, up in the air, spraying the area. People started to get out of their vehicles and run, including me.”
A state police trooper and a Marine licensed to carry a gun charged Brown and shot the madman multiple times. Brown was hospitalized and is expected to be charged with two counts of armed assault with intent to murder, The New York Post said.
