Jennifer Lawrence Reveals She Rehomed Her Dog After Becoming a Mom, Views the Animals as ‘a Threat’

Jennifer Lawrence is opening up about a surprising parenting decision she never expected to make — having to give up her dog after becoming a mom.

On Wednesday, January 7, during a Q&A while promoting her upcoming flick Die My Love in New York City, the Hunger Games star, 35, revealed that her longtime Chihuahua, Princess Pippi Longstocking, now lives happily with her parents.

Lawrence shares two young sons with husband Cooke Maroney, including 3-year-old Cy and a baby boy born in 2024 — and she admitted motherhood completely rewired her instincts.

“She’s alive, she’s with my parents,” Lawrence reassured the audience, explaining that city life and her new reality as a mom made caring for a dog overwhelming. After welcoming her first child, she said, dogs suddenly felt “so scary,” especially after one bit her son.

“I just see them as a threat,” she admitted in footage shared on Instagram.

While Pippi is no longer under her roof, Lawrence still has a soft spot for pets — especially cats — joking that their standoffish personalities make them endlessly entertaining.

“I have a cat and I feel like they’re so misunderstood,” she also explained during the Q&A, per Daily Mail. “They are a**holes and people who don’t like that about cats are getting that that is what is so funny.”
