Erika Kirk Slams Journalists for Capturing ‘Clips’ at White House Shooting in Fiery Video Response

Charlie Kirk’s widow Erika Kirk is opening up about the chaos that unfolded at the recent White House Correspondents’ Dinner after gunshots were fired.

In a lengthy video message shared on Wednesday, April 29, the Turning Point USA CEO, 37, addressed why she went to the event — at which a man allegedly tried to assassinate President Donald Trump — and why she is standing up to the harassment she says that she’s endured.

Addressing the “thousands” of videos from the event, Kirk slammed reporters for caring more about getting a social media clip of what is unfolding rather than focusing on the safety of themselves and those around them.

In a viral clip that has circulated the internet following the Saturday, April 25, ordeal, the mother of two was famously seen in tears as she was being whisked away from the scene.

“During an active shooting, these journalists are using their phones to find moments to capture for clips,” she noted. “They were so concerned about getting a video in a room with an active shooter that they could have accidentally — and quite literally — filmed themselves being shot.”

“Many of those people have become so desensitized that ‘fight or flight’ became secondary to the opportunity of putting themselves into the story, which ironically, breaks the No. 1 rule of journalism,” she said.

“Again, ironically enough, the shooter was a teacher,” she said of Cole Tomas Allen, the alleged shooter at the White House Correspondents’ dinner who has been charged with attempting to assassinate the Apprentice alum, 79.

Allen, 31, made his first appearance in court on Monday, April 27. He remains in custody in D.C.

In her lengthy video message, Kirk said that she went to the dinner because “many of the journalists in that room have attempted to dehumanize me.”

“And I wanted to meet some of them face to face, quite frankly,” she continued. “Why have a conversation about me when you can have a conversation with me?”
