Erik Menendez is back in prison following his recent hospitalization to treat kidney stones.
On Saturday, August 2, Erik’s stepdaughter, Talia — who he shares with his wife Tammi — posted an Instagram Story giving an update on his whereabouts.
“My dad is out of the hospital and back at the prison, preparing for our upcoming parole hearing,” Talia wrote, according to TMZ.
As Globe previously reported, Erik, 54, left R.J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego to undergo multiple surgeries for kidney stones last month.

Talia initially revealed her dad had problems with his kidneys on Wednesday, July 23, as she wrote on her Instagram Story, “Today Erik had his second surgery due to complications with both kidneys having multiple large stones,” per People.
Tammi also took to X to explain his medical status that day.
“Today Erik had a 2nd surgery. This surgery was successful,” she wrote. “He will need a 3rd surgery which will hopefully happen soon.”
“Because Erik is in prison there are a lot of complications and delays with surgery,” she added. “Tonight he remains nauseous and in pain however is recovering from surgery.”
“We thank everyone for their well wishes and prayers. Complications happen in surgery but this is a very stressful time for us,” Tammi wrote in a separate post. “Additionally, we are grateful to the CRT custody and medical staff who did their best during this difficult situation.”
Erik’s attorney, Mark Geragos, first told TMZ on Tuesday, July 22, that Erik “is having a serious medical condition right now.”

“He’s being treated right now — I’ll leave it at that — it’s a serious condition, and he needs, I think, to be out so he can focus on the hearing,” Geragos remarked, referring to Erik and his brother Lyle’s parole hearings at the end of August.
“He should be medically furloughed so he can work with the parole attorney and be up to speed and be ready,” he told the outlet. “It is the only fair and equitable thing to do.”
In 1996, Erik and Lyle, 57, were convicted of first-degree murder for the 1989 deaths of their parents, Jose and Kitty. However, the brothers claim they acted in self-defense and allege years of abuse at the hands of their parents.
Initially, the two men were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, but this past May, they were resentenced to 50 years to life, making them eligible.
