Erik Menendez is on the mend following surgery, but he is still not feeling 100 percent.
On Wednesday, July 23, Erik’s wife, Tammi Menendez, took to X to share an update on Erik’s condition following the news from his attorney, Mark Geragos, earlier this week that he was struggling with his health.
“Today Erik had a 2nd surgery. This surgery was successful,” she wrote on the platform. “He will need a 3rd surgery which will hopefully happen soon.”
“Because Erik is in prison there are a lot of complications and delays with surgery,” she continued. “Tonight he remains nauseous and in pain however is recovering from surgery.”

Tammi shared a separate post expressing her gratitude to those who showed their support.
“We thank everyone for their well wishes and prayers. Complications happen in surgery but this is a very stressful time for us,” she wrote. “Additionally, we are grateful to the CRT custody and medical staff who did their best during this difficult situation.”
As Globe previously reported, Geragos spoke to TMZ on Tuesday, July 22, telling the outlet that his client “is having a serious medical condition right now.”
“He’s being treated right now — I’ll leave it at that — it’s a serious condition, and he needs, I think, to be out so he can focus on the hearing,” Geragos told the outlet, referring to Erik and brother Lyle’s parole hearings, currently scheduled for August 21 and 22.

Geragos said he hoped the condition was not life-threatening, but was asking California Governor Gavin Newsom to temporarily release Erik from prison to get proper treatment.
“He should be medically furloughed so he can work with the parole attorney and be up to speed and be ready,” he remarked. “It is the only fair and equitable thing to do.”
While Geragos did not specify the medical condition, TMZ confirmed that Erik was being treated for kidney stones.

In 1996, Erik, 54, and his brother Lyle, 57, were convicted of first-degree murder for the 1989 deaths of their parents, Jose and Kitty. The two men claim they acted in self-defense and allege years of abuse at the hands of their parents.
The brothers were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. However, this past May, they were resentenced to 50 years to life, making them eligible for parole.
Many people, including celebrities and members of their own family, have advocated for their release, particularly following Ryan Murphy’s 2024 Netflix series, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
