New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has already addressed the scandal surrounding his relationship with NFL reporter Dianna Russini, but he didn’t say enough, one sports pundit claims.
Both Vrabel and Russini — who are married to other people — denied wrongdoing after Page Six published photos of them together at a resort in Sedona, Arizona, in March, claiming they were part of a larger group. And in April, Vrabel released a statement to ESPN confirming he was seeking counseling, which accounted for his absence from Day 3 of the Patriots’ 2026 NFL Draft.

But as the controversy continues to make headlines, former ESPN anchor Jemele Hill is sharing her two cents.
“It feels as if Vrabel is going to be forced to address this in a much deeper and more significant way than he already has,” Hill told Front Office Sports.

The contributing writer for The Atlantic added, “That’s the only way the constant reporting will stop. The longer he continues to evade questions, the more motivation he’s giving to the tabloids to keep pursuing the story.”
Russini stepped down from her role as lead NFL insider at The Athletic shortly after the story became public, as reported by AP on April 14.

The NFL has confirmed the matter falls outside its Personal Conduct Policy and that no disciplinary action is planned, Fox reported on April 18.
After going 4-13 in both 2023 and 2024, the franchise rebounded under Vrabel, winning the AFC East and reaching the Super Bowl in his first year, per The Athletic.
Sports Illustrated journalist Albert Beer recently confirmed that Vrabel’s job is secure.
“I would say at this point, it’s definitely not in their plans to move on from Mike Vrabel,” Beer told 98.5 The Sports Hub.
“Almost everything has been done in an effort to protect his employment and to protect his team’s image.”
