Dave Chappelle didn’t hold back when reflecting on today’s political climate during a recent conversation with Michelle Obama.
The comedian, 52, appeared as a guest on Obama’s podcast, IMO, on the Wednesday, May 6, episode. During their chat, Chappelle admitted that the current moment feels never-ending.
“It’s never really been quite like this before, where everyone feels like we’re on the precipice of some amazing change,” the Con Air star said. “Every day the news cycle is more appalling than the last day, and this doesn’t seem like it’s ever going to end. And every week, I learn some new words, like ‘Strait of Hormuz.'”

However, Chappelle added that it was “fun” to see comedians “contextualize” the “avalanche” of news.
The You’ve Got Mail actor also spoke about his local community of Yellow Springs, Ohio, where he lives with his wife, Elaine, and their three children: Sulayman, 24, Ibrahim, 22, and Sanaa, 16.
Chappelle said that his neighbors helped pick him and his family up after they suffered some “tremendous losses.”

“That made me hopeful,” he told the former first lady. “Anything you can do to let each other know you’re safe, that you’re OK, it means everything right now, because otherwise this is intolerable. It’s insufferable what’s happening right now.”
Obama, 62, admitted that she was “hopeful” too.
“We have overcome worse,” she continued. “But we overcome it by pulling together and not feeding on each other.”
