Cher is once again trying to place troubled son Elijah Blue Allman under a conservatorship as his life spirals ever deeper out of control, but it’s a seemingly all-consuming process that’s upsetting her to no end.
“All this anguish and stress is doing a real number on her right now,” a source tells Globe. “She’s constantly breaking down in tears, desperately saddened that it’s come to this.”
According to court documents obtained by Page Six on Friday, April 17, the “Strong Enough” singer, 79, claims that Allman’s “drug dependency is at its worst.” The filing also states that the 49-year-old’s life has “significantly deteriorated” since her prior conservatorship petition in 2023 and that he’s currently in a “locked psychiatric hospital” in New Hampshire following a string of arrests.
“The fact Elijah’s been rotting in a psych ward for the past month or so is just unthinkably horrific to her on every level,” says the source.

Not even Cher’s upcoming 80th birthday can lift her spirits.
“She’s digging deep and trying to be strong through this process, but it’s a daily challenge and birthday celebrations are the last thing on her mind right now,” admits the source. “All she wants is to save Elijah before it’s too late.”
People are worried about her too, adds the source, that “she’s pushing herself totally over the edge in the process.”
However, “Cher will never stop fighting to save Elijah,” the source declares. “He’s still her flesh and blood after all.”
As Globe previously reported, the Daily Enquirer broke the news earlier this month that the two-time Grammy winner recently found out Allman fathered a secret grandchild. “Elijah never wanted his mom to be in the kid’s life because of their damaged relationship,” a source told The Daily Enquirer.
