The Kennedy Dynasty isn’t what it used to be, according to Caroline Kennedy.
“Just to state the obvious though it seems often underweighted these days — there are now more than 100 adults in our family so it’s pretty different than in the past,” late president John F. Kennedy’s daughter, 67, wrote in a statement to New York Magazine which published on Monday, August 25.
“There is no ‘family’ — it’s not The Godfather,” her son, Jack Schlossberg, 32, told the outlet. “We don’t all meet every year and have a discussion about what to do. It’s just a bunch of individual people.”
Their statements were part of a story about the fractured state of the famous political family in the wake of her cousin, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s rise to power as Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Caroline first broke her silence on their rift in a scathing video posted on January 28, hours before his confirmation for a job she called “an enormous responsibility, and one that Bobby is unqualified to fill.”

“He lacks any relevant government, financial, management, or medical experience,” she added, slamming Robert F. Kennedy’s son, 71, for his “dangerous and willfully misinformed” views on vaccines.
Even worse, she continued, “he is a predator” who attracts others with his “willingness to take risks and break the rules,” including his younger relatives, who followed him “down the path of drug addiction.”
While many of them still struggle with their issues and some — like RFK Jr’s brother, David, and cousin, Saoirse Kennedy Hill — have even died, “Bobby has gone to to misrepresent, lie, and cheat his way through life,” charged Caroline.

Caroline, who was the ambassador to Australia during Joe Biden’s presidency, said “it wasn’t easy to remain silent” as she watched RFK Jr. “grandstand off my father’s assassination, and that of his own father.”
“It is incomprehensible that someone who is willing to exploit their own painful family tragedies for publicity would be in charge of American life-and-death situations,” she said, adding that JFK, RFK Sr. and her uncle Ted Kennedy, “would be disgusted.”
