A 23-year-old is going viral for documenting his life outside of the United States after relocating to the Amazon rainforest.
Justin Alvo, who grew up in the U.S., told Unilad in an interview published on Saturday, July 18, that he returned to his father’s homeland in the Ecuadorian Amazon to document the culture on his YouTube channel.
While there, he met a woman named Maria who works as a chef at an Amazonian restaurant. The two are now married.
“I basically said, ‘Hey, I like you a lot, you’re really cute, and I want to make documentaries and videos about the Shuar people,'” Alvo told the outlet. “She said yes, let’s do it.”

After filming their first video together, their relationship grew into something more. He also documents his new life with Maria on his Instagram, which has nearly 200,000 followers.
“POV: You moved to the Amazon jungle to live with a tribal baddie,” he captioned a July 5 photo carousel on Instagram featuring snapshots of their journey together. “The ‘tribal baddie’ I’m speaking of is my one wife who is 22 years old and I’m 23, and we’re in a happy marriage.”
While in the Amazon with his new wife Maria, Alvo told Unilad that he’s learned how to live and survive out in the wild. He quickly discovered which plants, animals and reptiles pose a threat to him and his tribe.
According to Unilad, Alvo saw a nearby boa in the jungle one day, and though he was advised not to go near it, he did so anyway.
“I love animals, so of course I caught it and started showing everyone,” he said.

However, because he touched the snake — which could pass on bad energy — his tribe wouldn’t allow him near any pregnant woman until he was “cleansed.”
Despite the serpent snafu, Alvo explained that he is happier in the Amazon, which beats living in America and coming home to “basically live in a box.”
Last week, Alvo celebrated a major milestone in his content creator journey. “THANK YOU for 100k on YouTube!!!” he captioned an Instagram post. “Check out my bio, I have such fun and interesting stories and videos on there! ❤️❤️❤️thanks for giving purpose to my life I love you all ❤️.”
