TikToker Claims His 20th Birthday Dinner Ended in Jail After 20 Friends Refused to Split $7,937 Bill

Turning 20 is supposed to be a milestone worth celebrating. For one man, it turned into a night behind bars, or so he claims.

A TikToker going by the handle @nevrcrd says his 20th birthday dinner with 20 friends at an unnamed five-star restaurant ended with police showing up and him spending the night in jail, all over a $7,937 bill his group refused to split evenly, according to the Daily Dot.

The creator shared the story across two TikTok videos, with the first garnering over one million views. In one of the videos, he claimed he had reserved the table and that, because the reservation was in his name, the entire tab fell solely on him when the restaurant refused to split the check by individual diner.

He asked each person in his group to contribute roughly $400. The response was far from smooth. Several friends said their mobile payment apps were not working or that they had no cash.

In the second video, he explained that one woman flatly refused, insisting her meal had arrived cold and was not worth the ask — she said $150 was all she was willing to pay.

When asked why she had not raised the issue during the meal, she reportedly said the restaurant was not somewhere she would normally go and had not felt it was her place to complain.

As the group debated, a waiter checked in repeatedly for updates. At the end of the night, the creator says that staff told him the police had already been called and that the restaurant was about to close. The second video ends there.

The videos sparked a wave of reactions online, with many people focusing on the price. “I’m not ever paying $400 for one meal,” wrote one commenter, while another quipped, “Did you guys eat on the moon?”

A viewer who said they work in fine dining offered the most pointed take. “In my experience, checks are usually split into a maximum of six payments, not more,” they wrote. “Especially at upscale restaurants, no place is going to split a bill twenty ways. If that’s what people expect, maybe don’t invite twenty people to a birthday dinner.”

The influencer with over 190.6 K Followers on TikTok chose not to reveal the restaurant’s identity or any arrest details in the second part of the video. The promised follow-up has still not been shared, leaving the full outcome unconfirmed.
