Elvis Presley was none-too-pleased about his ex-wife, Priscilla Presley, taking up with Mike Stone.
In her new book, Softly, As I Leave You, the Naked Gun actress, 80, revealed the King of Rock and Roll was “angry and humiliated” after Priscilla informed him she was leaving him amid an affair with the karate master.
“Elvis found the thought of me with another man unbearable,” she writes. “In the weeks after my departure, he told the guys that Mike had to die. He even asked Joe [Esposito] to find a hit man.”
Priscilla explains that her “close friendship” with Stone — who was her karate instructor at the time — “turned into an affair,” however, it was “not the reason” she left Elvis, noting their marriage had been “crumbling” for years.
Though she knows their affair was wrong — both she and Stone were married, and had children — she admitted feeling “desired” again as a young woman inspired her to “fall headlong” into their romance.
As Globe previously reported, Priscilla also opened up about a disturbing sexual experience with Elvis amid the end of their marriage, with the “It’s Now or Never” singer making love to her “forcefully.”
“He’d needed to prove to himself and to me that he could make love ‘like a real man,’ the way he imagined a karate master doing it,” she wrote, noting it left her with an “unhappy memory of my last experience of sexual intimacy” with her ex-husband.
Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis hits shelves on Tuesday, September 23.
