President Trump Says He Needs ‘Vandal-Proof Material’ for Reflecting Pool After ‘Animals’ Damaged It

President Donald Trump may need to invest in a pool boy.

After the Associated Press shared photos of the drained Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, which shows how the protective coating in the color of “American flag blue” has faded to gray, the 80-year-old president claimed again that this is the work of vandals.

“The Reflecting Pool, so badly damaged by Deranged Vandals, has been emptied as the massive slash gets repaired,” the Apprentice alum wrote Friday, July 17, on Truth Social.

“We got it through the great July Fourth Weekend,” he continued. “What kind of animals would do such a thing? We are looking for a Vandal Proof material, but such a thing should not have been necessary. The Scum in Court will hopefully be prosecuted to the MAX.”

According to the AP, the new liner appears to be gray after the pool was repainted in June. Trump initially suggested renovations would cost $1.5 million, but the cost has reportedly come to more than $16 million.

The president initially said repairs to the pool would last years; however, it already appeared to be peeling.

While Trump continues to attribute the pool’s cosmetic decline to vandals, others believe it is due to poor repair work.

Trump claimed that vandals made a “350-foot gash” in the liner; however, the AP reported that no large slash marks were immediately visible when the photos were taken on Wednesday.

Multiple people were arrested after allegedly vandalizing the refurbished pool, Fox News reported.

Former Olympic canoe racer David Hearn pleaded not guilty to deliberately damaging the pool. At least three others were charged, according to the AP, and all three pleaded not guilty.
