Parenting Influencer Reveals She Accidentally Ran Over Son With Her Car: ‘A True Nightmare’
Parenting influencer Kelly Hopton-Jones of Hillside Farmhouse accidentally ran over her son Henry with her car. He suffered pelvic fractures but is expected to recover fully.
Kelly Hopton-Jones, a parenting influencer, revealed she accidentally ran over her young son with her car, describing the incident as a “true nightmare.”
Hopton-Jones, who runs the popular Hillside Farmhouse Instagram account, revealed in a post on Wednesday, April 15, that “life can change in the literal blink of an eye.”
In the raw post — accompanied with images of her and her husband’s hands as he lay in a hospital bed — she wrote, “Today has been the worst day of our lives. Life can change in the literal blink of an eye.”
“A true nightmare for a parent happened to us today. It started like any normal day,” she continued.
The influencer explained that she was taking her daughter, Lily, to get donuts ahead of a dance performance and her husband planned to stay home and later bring their son, Henry.
She said her husband “helped Lily into the car and was waving goodbye between our car and Henry, who was in the garage. “In a matter of seconds, our son was run over by our car. I was driving,” she continued.

Fortunately, the mother of two said her son’s X-rays of his chest, legs and neck, along with a CT scan and neurological exams, came back normal. “He does have fractures to his pelvis that will take time to heal, as well as a few abrasions,” she shared.
“What stays with me is the doctor saying: ‘He is hurt, but this is something he can recover from,’” she added, calling it a “true miracle.”
The mother of two went on to say the family is in “shock,” and “so sad,” but simultaneously “incredibly grateful.”
She also shared a message for other parents: “Non negotiable to hold or hold hands with young children around vehicles. Do not assume they know or will stay where you last saw them. Even when you are not distracted. Even when you are not rushing. It can still happen in the blink of an eye.”
Despite grappling with the “what ifs,” Hopton-Jones concluded that she’s aware her family is “on the lucky side of a very tragic accident.”
