OpenAI CEO Sam Altman‘s sister, Ann Altman, has doubled down on her claims that he abused her in bombshell court documents.
In a lawsuit first filed in Missouri district court in 2025, Ann claimed that when she was between the ages of 3 and 12, her brother, who was nine years older, “regularly continued to commit numerous acts of rape” and other abuses against her, according to documents obtained by Globe.
The tech founder, now 41, denied the claims. Sam’s mother, Connie Gibstine, and brothers Jack Altman and Max Altman, joined him in a joint statement on X, insisting that “all of these claims are utterly untrue,” and that Ann faces “mental health challenges” and “refuses conventional treatment and lashes out at family members who are genuinely trying to help.”

Sam — who is worth about $3.3 billion, per Forbes — also filed a countersuit for defamation, based on accusations of abuse she posted on social media, and asked for a token $1 in damages.
But in a Friday, August 7 filing obtained by Globe, Ann argued that her family has a narrow definition of sanity that does not include her “more artistic human pursuits.”
Ann “denies she is ‘mentally ill’ as Sam Altman has slanderously characterized her in his Counterclaim and through social media to several reporters — in a clear effort to control her autonomy and her chosen career path, and to silence her,” according to the filing.
Ann also claimed she “has been diagnosed with current and likely prospective PTSD, as a direct and proximate result of Sam Altman sexually abusing her as a child as part of his ‘campaign’ to control and dominate a younger sibling he likely deemed as ‘less intelligent.'”
While Ann admits to sharing social media posts about her alleged abuse, she is asking for Sam’s counterclaims to be dismissed.
Ann’s attorney, Santos A. Perez, declined to comment when contacted by Globe.
