North West is following in her famous father’s footsteps—making music and causing controversy. The 12-year-old daughter of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian released her first EP, N0rth4evr, on Friday, May 1, and the five-track project, which blends genres by incorporating elements of rap, emo, and hyperpop, received high praise from Rolling Stone magazine. Across social media, however, some music fans seem to disagree with the publication’s review giving the project four out of five stars.

“If it wasn’t already clear that North West, the scion of the West-Kardashian throne, had inherited serious star power, it only takes roughly 10 minutes for her to prove it on her debut EP,” begins the article. “Over an efficient five tracks, West traverses the sonic styles of her generation — from nu-metal riffs to rage-rap 808s — with dazzling confidence. At just 12 years old, North’s debut is impressive regardless of her famous pedigree. Even for music royalty, talent still has to announce itself, and that’s what she’s done with N0rth4evr.”
On X, users responded to the magazine’s post sharing the review with variations of the same complaint: ”Another nepo baby getting praise for mediocrity, must be nice having Kanye’s connections. This album is trash and Rolling Stone knows it,” wrote one user.
“This review is sponsored by Kris Jenner,” quipped another.

Meanwhile, members of North’s famous family showed their support for her by sharing her EP on their own pages. Even her uncle, Rob Kardashian, who rarely posts anything, shared a screenshot on his Instagram story.
