Mother of the Bride Crashes SUV Into the Entrance of the Wedding Venue After Her Slipper Got Stuck

A mother in Utah made quite the entrance at her daughter’s wedding when she crashed her SUV into the front of the venue.

According to a report from the Standard-Examiner, the mother of the bride pulled up to the wedding venue at the Best Western Plus High Country Inn in Ogden on Saturday, August 8, hours ahead of the ceremony. According to the hotel’s general manager, Jennifer McBride, the woman thought she had her car in reverse and was safe to back up. She reached to try and adjust the slipper she was wearing when it reportedly got stuck, sending the vehicle forward.

According to the report, she jumped the curb, went through a sign and eventually stopped after the car slammed into a stone support column that sits in front of the hotel’s entrance. Fortunately, no one was around at the time, so no injuries were reported. However, the scene got scary when the vehicle began to leak fluid out of the front left side, which had been thoroughly damaged by the impact.

The woman attempted to put the car in reverse and back it away from the support column, but the SUV wouldn’t budge.

“So we’re very grateful that everybody’s OK,” McBride told the outlet. “No injuries; just property damage. And a little kink in wedding day plans.”

Photos of the crash taken by the Standard-Examiner show the blue Ford Discovery about ten feet from the parking lot with its front left side caved in against the stone structure, which had its brickwork destroyed by the crash. The photos also seem to show a heavy metal support beam at the center of the stone, making structural damage to the hotel unlikely.
