Days after Joseph Duggar was arrested on allegations of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl, his wife, Kendra Duggar, was also arrested.

Kendra, 27, faces four counts each of endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree false imprisonment, according to a post from the Tontitown Arkansas Police Department on their Facebook page.

A source recently told People what they claim led to those charges.

“I can tell you the arrest was a result of a home inspection, and the door locks being on the exterior of the doors,” the source told the publication on Monday, March 23.

A separate source alleged to the outlet that the locks were discovered on the “doors of rooms where the children would be,” while a spokesman for the family clarified that her charges are “totally unrelated” to Joseph’s.

On March 18, authorities in Arkansas arrested Joseph, 31, on a warrant issued out of Bay County, Florida, charging the father of four with lewd and lascivious behavior, including molestation of a victim under the age of 12, as well as lewd and lascivious conduct by a person 18 or older.

Authorities with the Arkansas Department of Human Services and the Tontitown Police Department then conducted a search of the couple’s home on March 19.

The following day, just before 5 p.m. on March 20, officials in Arkansas filed those charges against Joseph and Kendra after what was described as a separate investigation.

The Tontitown Police Department stated that the couple was each charged with four counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment via their official Facebook page.

If convicted on all counts, both Joseph and Kendra could face up to eight years in prison, along with fines.

As Globe previously reported, an affidavit obtained by People, Bay County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigator Chase Norris said he was informed that Joseph had confessed to molesting a minor during a conversation with the girl’s father on March 17.

Norris wrote that he then “requested the detective and victim’s father call [Joseph]” who “admitted his actions” and said “he touched the victim over her clothing.”

The former 19 Kids and Counting star also admitted that his “intentions weren’t pure,” according to the affidavit obtained by the outlet.

Joseph is currently being held at the Washington County Detention Center and awaiting extradition to Florida.
