Kanye West is being sued by a man he allegedly sucker punched at the famed Chateau Marmont two years ago.
According to a report published by TMZ on Tuesday, April 14, an unidentified man is suing the rapper, 48, who goes by Ye, for battery and infliction of emotional distress from an incident that happened in April 2024 in which he claims Kanye approached him and punched him out of nowhere, causing him to fall down and hit his head, knocking him unconscious.
The lawsuit reportedly says that West then repeatedly punched him as he lay unconscious on the floor of the famous Los Angeles hotel. The lawsuit also notes that Ye seemed to be upset because he believed that the victim groped his wife, Bianca Censori. However, the victim denies that he did anything inappropriate toward Censori, 31, and believes video evidence from the scene will prove that.

The outlet says the plaintiff in the case, who is seeking unspecified damages, accuses the artist of repeating lies about him on a podcast, “exposing plaintiff to public scorn, suspicion and ridicule.”
Kanye appeared on the April 23, 2024, episode of The Download podcast, where he told a story about getting into a physical altercation with someone at Chateau Marmont.
“My wife is walking to the bathroom at the Chateau, and then, this guy… this guy just grabbed my wife,” he told the host. “I didn’t see it directly, but she started just explaining to me what happened. So then I walked over and found him, and then I’m talking to security, not just the security that be with me but other security being like, ‘OK, let’s get this guy just escorted out.’”
West continued, “Then I talked to the guy, and I said, ‘Yo, you just need to leave right now.’ And he’s like, ‘No, it’s OK, it’s OK,’ and I’m like, ‘No, it’s not OK.’ It wasn’t OK, then he saw it wasn’t OK, and he had to go to bed early. I tucked this na in. I don’t know what happened. He had to go to bed early.”
