Vanessa Trump revealed her shocking breast cancer diagnosis this week, and her former sister-in-law, Ivanka Trump, is standing in her corner.
“I’ve recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. While this isn’t news anyone expects, I’m working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan,” Vanessa, 48, wrote in a message via Instagram on Wednesday, May 20.
She added that she had undergone a “procedure” earlier in the week and thanked her doctors.
“I am staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, my kids, and those closest to me,” the mom of five continued. “Thank you for your kindness and support it truly means more than I can express. I kindly ask for privacy as I focus on my health and recovery.”
There were several comments offering their support, including a sweet message from Ivanka, 44.
“Praying for your continued strength and a swift recovery,” she said. “Love you mama.”
In November 2004, Donald Jr., also 48, proposed to the former model with a 4 carat engagement ring reportedly worth $100,000 from a New Jersey jeweler, according to a New York Post report published at the time.
However, the public proposal came with a catch. In exchange for popping the question outside the jeweler’s storefront at the Short Hills mall while paparazzi looked on, the diamond ring was provided free of charge.
The two went on to marry in 2005, and over the next several years, they welcomed five kids – Kai Madison, 19, Donald John III, 17, Tristan Milos, 14, Spencer Frederick, 13, and Chloe Sophia, 11.
Thirteen years after marrying, Vanessa filed for divorce and it was finalized the same year. She’s currently datingTiger Woods.
