Disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein, currently incarcerated at Rikers Island for his crimes against women, is still taking credit for major success stories in Hollywood.
In his first major sit-down interview published Tuesday, March 10, in The Hollywood Reporter, the 73-year-old — who maintains he “never” sexually assaulted anyone — claims his brother Bob Weinstein is to blame for the demise of their company, The Weinstein Company.
“Look at his movies — one disaster after another,” said Harvey. “I saved the company! The King’s Speech, The Artist, Silver Linings Playbook. Hit after hit after hit. And it wasn’t just the films. I built our television company.”
The father of five then claimed he is part of the reason why the TV series Yellowstone became a cultural phenomenon.
“People don’t know this, but one of the last things I did was bring Taylor Sheridan to Yellowstone,” he told THR. “Sheridan wanted to cast Robert Redford, but I said, ‘You need to get Kevin Costner.’ And it became a massive hit. But then this happened, and people forget.”
It’s unclear what Harvey meant, as Sheridan wrote and created Yellowstone, but The Weinstein Company was involved in production.

When asked about if it was surprising that his brother Bob, 71, cut him off amid the onslaught of sexual assault allegations, Harvey said, “No. Not at all. He’s desperate to work, and this killed his career, too.”
“He just hopes that by s**tting on me he can go back to work,” Harvey continued. “But sadly for him, they will never let him go back to work. He’s stuck there with me. But it wasn’t a surprise. The last years of The Weinstein Co., there was lots of bad blood between us.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Harvey said he was particularly hurt by others who turned their back on him amid his public downfall. He said that he once considered actress Gwyneth Paltrow — one of several women who accused him of sexual harassment — a “good friend.”
“Gwyneth goes on Howard Stern and The New York Times and makes a big deal about it all,” he said of time when he asked her if she’d like a massage.
“She knows that nothing happened,” said Harvey, who told THR that he “got the message” after she said no. “But this person who was a friend, who owes her career to me, just stabs me in the back. She wanted to be part of the crowd. I won’t forgive her for that.”
When asked if he is still keeping up with the entertainment world, he said, “Oh yeah. I can’t help myself. I read [the trades] religiously. I still talk to Hollywood people on the outside. I’m a fanatical THR reader, you’ll be happy to know. But it always comes two weeks late.”
