‘Yellowstone’ Alum Neal McDonough Hints At Being Fired From a Show For Refusing to Kiss Another Woman
Neal McDonough opened up on his decision not to participate in kissing or sex scenes in film and television after marrying his wife, Ruvé.
On a recent installment of the Nothing Left Unsaid podcast, the Yellowstone alum, 59, admitted that his wife “didn’t have any problem with it,” but it was him who balked at the idea of locking lips with another woman.
“I was like, ‘Yeah, I don’t want to put you through it. I know we’re gonna start having kids,’ and I didn’t wanna put my kids through it,” he added in the podcast, which was first shared by TMZ.
“Intimacy is a whole different thing for me,” he added.
Despite having a more than 30-year acting career with appearances in hit shows such as Tulsa King, Desperate Housewives, Band of Brothers and more, he implied he was fired from a job for his firm stance on the issue.
“When I wouldn’t do it and they couldn’t understand it, Hollywood just completely turned on me and they wouldn’t let me be part of the show anymore,” he said.
Neal didn’t name the television series that he was allegedly axed from.
This isn’t the first time that the actor has spoken out about his controversial career move. He told Closer in 2019 that he warned Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry that he wouldn’t “kiss anybody.”
“He was like, ‘But this is Desperate Housewives!’ I said, ‘I know,’” Neal explained at the time. “He paused for about five seconds and said, ‘All right, I’m just going to have to write better.’ And we had a great time.”
Neal also gushed about the day he met his wife.
“We literally bumped into each other on the street, locked eyes and that was it,” he told the outlet. “The next morning, I called the woman I was dating at the time and said, ‘I’m sorry, it’s not going to work out with us anymore — I just met the woman I’m going to marry.’”
Neal and Ruvé, also 59, tied the knot in 2003 and built what he called “one heck of an awesome life” together. They share five children.
Last year, the American Horror Story actor said his wife was his “best friend” and his “partner in crime” as they celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary.
“Thank you, Ruvé for helping me to be the Man I am today!” he continued via Instagram. “I’ve always said ‘I can conquer the world with one hand tied behind my back … as long as you’re holding the other one!’”
