Giant Cockroach Crawls Up Reporter’s Bare Neck During Live Broadcast

An unwelcome guest crashed a live KTLA5 news report when a flying cockroach crawled onto a reporter during the broadcast.

A video shared on Wednesday, July 15, showed reporter Rachel Menitoff staying shockingly calm as the creepy crawler made its way up her torso and onto her bare neck before flying over to land on her microphone. She continued her report, seemingly unbothered by the bug, but as soon as the live shot ended, she frantically brushed at her hair and skin.

Viewers were impressed that Menitoff made it through the broadcast without losing her cool.

“How she didn’t freak out despite being in camera is beyond me,” one person wrote via X.

Another user added, “Somebody give her a raise! If she can remain calm and cool like that. She can report the news anywhere without being afraid.”

Others called Menitoff a “true professional” and couldn’t get over the size of the insect.

Former reality star Spencer Pratt, who unsuccessfully ran against City Councilmember Nithya Raman in this year’s Los Angeles mayoral race, also weighed in on the situation, taking aim at his former opponent.

“Nithya Raman has made her district so filthy, you can’t even do a quick news hit without cockroaches crawling all over you like some Mumbai slum,” the Hills alum wrote via X. “The median home price here is $1.5M.”
