Charlie Kirk‘s family is preparing for the weeklong preliminary hearing beginning Monday, July 6, for the man accused of killing him.

His widow, Erika Kirk, shared a statement to X on behalf of his immediate family — including herself as well as his parents, Robert and Kathryn Kirk, and sister Mary — calling him “a beloved husband, son, brother, friend, and father.”

“Every court proceeding serves as a painful reminder of his death and the loss that has irrevocably impacted our lives and the lives of his children,” the statement continued, referring to the couple’s son and daughter.

“We remain deeply grateful for the support, prayers, and kindness we have received,” the statement added. “This outpouring has sustained us during the darkest days of our lives. Out of respect for the judicial process, we will not be commenting further at this time. We ask for continued privacy as we navigate this process and immense grief.”

As Globe previously reported, the preliminary hearing marks the first time that the Turning Point USA CEO, 37, and Charlie’s parents will be in the courtroom with Tyler James Robinson, who is accused of shooting the right-wing political activist while he was speaking at Utah Valley University as part of his American Comeback Tour.

Prosecutors will aim to show they have enough evidence against Robinson to proceed to a trial.

Robinson is currently facing multiple charges, including one count of aggravated murder, in connection to Kirk’s death. The 23-year-old has not yet entered a plea.

Prosecutors plan to introduce surveillance video, autopsy findings, recordings of witness statements and alleged messages from Robinson, the Associated Press reported.

After Charlie’s death, his widow shared a video of herself touching her late husband’s dead body at his casket, and she has also said that she forgives the man suspected of assassinating him.

Charlie was shot and killed in broad daylight at age 31 on September 10, 2025.
