Michigan bride Savanah Collier attempted to help her new hubby escape justice after he killed his best man with a car on their wedding night, lawmen say — and got away with a slap on the wrist!
Collier, 23, was recently sentenced under the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act after pleading guilty to a single count of accessory after the fact to a felony. If she successfully completes 24 months’ probation, she could potentially have the charge dismissed, per People.

According to local outlet WNEM 5, Collier and James Shirah, 24, tied the knot on Aug. 30, 2024, at a pizzeria. But investigators say Shirah later began to fight with pal Terry Taylor Jr., 29, and surveillance video captures the hotheaded groom getting behind the wheel of a vehicle before deliberately mowing down the buddy who stood beside him as he took his marital vows.
Shirah pleaded no contest to second-degree homicide, operating a vehicle without a valid license and leaving the scene of a crash and was sentenced on May 11 to at least 30 years behind bars.
Prosecutor Mark Ross alleged, per Court TV, “She saw her husband run him over at a high rate of speed — [Taylor] died on the street — got in the car, had a phone and didn’t call 911 or do anything else.”
Collier tearfully addressed the court during her sentence hearing, stating, per Court TV: “Never in a million years would I have expected what happened to happen … It was supposed to be the best night of my life.”
Judge Khary Hannibal told her, per Court TV, “The actions of Mr. Shirah were not your fault; however, they’ve become your problem.”
